Second grade has been celebrating 12 Days of Kindness. Our first day was to help others celebrate the season by donating a “snack” food item for St. Leo’s food pantry. Our kids brought in so many snacks! Some of the other days of Kindness include: praying for someone who has taken care of us, give three compliments to someone, surprising a family member by volunteering to do something at home or take care of our school by picking up trash. Making our community a kinder place is preparing our hearts for the birth of Jesus!!

In Science, one of the questions that the students were trying to figure out was; Does wind or water cause more erosion? The students created erosion on their sand castles with wind and water. Next, they used several materials to try and prevent erosion. We found out that there was no right or wrong answers. However, in the meantime, we learned how to design, create and work together as a team to try and learn about these different land changes.
Next up for us in Science will be Solids, Liquids and Gases!!!

Shiny, dull, smooth, sparkly are all words we used to describe our rocks. Second grade has been observing and learning about igneous, sedimentary and metamorphic rocks. We got to observe, record and compare and contrast. It was fun using a hand held lens and we look forward to looking at our rocks under the microscope!
This is my 23rd year at SPSL. I feel so blessed to teach both First Reconciliation and First Communion. I have two children and enjoy reading biographies.
