SPSL will be participating in Lego League Jr. and Vex IQ robotics events this year. Students in kindergarten to 8th grade are invited to participate by creating/joining teams and working together to design robots that can solve problems and play games.
Teams that wish to, may compete in the local competition events. Students may also decide to build a robot without competing. Competitions involve demonstration of skills, cooperative play, and the evaluation of the students as a problem-solving team. The programs emphasize cooperation, engineering-based problem solving, change management, and embracing failures as a natural part of a learning process.
Team sizes are 3-5 children with kindergarten to 3rd grade using Lego We Do kits and 4th to 8th grade using Vex IQ. Each team will need to have an adult volunteer coach.
Kindergarten – 8th grade
TBD – Costs to include registration fee and fee for team kits. Upper grade students will also have event fees if they participate in competitions.
