Woodmen Speech


Students in grades 5th to 8th participate in writing, editing, memorizing, and presenting a three to five minute speech based on a topic selected yearly by Modern Woodmen of America.  School contest winners have the opportunity to complete at the next level.

Modern Woodmen of America provides young people an opportunity to meet with early success in public speaking, which imparts a sense of accomplishment, boosts self-confidence, and increases the likelihood of significant achievement in the future.


Facilitated by classroom teachers from November to March.  Competition is held in Spring.

2017 Modern Woodmen Speech School Contest Contestants Grades 5-8

On Wednesday, April 5th, the 2017 Modern Woodmen Speech School contest was held in the O’Brien Parish Center. Ten students in grades 5-8 were chosen by judges during an after school competition. Congratulations to all who participated!


From the ten finalists, three finalists were chosen and the top two will advance to the District competition which will be held on May 4th at Christ the King School. Good luck!!
