Principal

Dear SPSL Community,

We welcome you to the St. Pius X / St. Leo School (SPSL) website and thank you for your interest in our very special Catholic school community!

We are very proud of all that we have to offer our families and in looking through our website, we hope that you can sense the diversity within our school and the entire SPSL community. We are honored to provide a strong, Christ-centered education to our diverse and talented students and to provide them with an educational experience that promotes exemplary academic skills and a sense of service to others.

Here at SPSL, we are celebrating our 68th year as a school! We are very excited for this school year and all of the wonderful teachers and staff love and care for our students and their amazing families. For the 2023-24 school year, our theme is “Sharing Our Gifts, Rooted in Faith, United in Spirit!” This theme was inspired by scripture from Colossians 2:6 that says “So then, just as you received Christ Jesus as Lord, continue to live your lives in him, rooted and built up in him, strengthened in the faith as you were taught, and overflowing with thankfulness.” Many of our reflections as a faculty and staff centered on how talented our educators are at SPSL and that when we follow Jesus, and live through him, our talents shrine greater.

This year has also brought a lot of new, fun and very important changes to the school campus. It has been very busy around our school campus this summer!  In addition to the regular cleaning and maintenance to prepare for the school year, we were able to complete the following projects:

Importantly, SPSL implemented a variety of new safety enhancements throughout our school campus including:

Additionally, here at SPSL we continually celebrate our diversity as we believe it represents the diversity of God’s great kingdom. Our families and students bless our school with many different learning styles, gifts and abilities; many racial and ethnic varieties of people; and varying religious affiliations. All of these students are welcomed in our two-parish Catholic elementary school and served under the guidance of our strong, Catholic school mission.

I have been blessed to be the principal of SPSL for 7 years, starting in 2017. To be the principal at SPSL is an honor and a very important calling and I am blessed to help our community carry on the strong traditions of a Catholic education as we welcome ALL in the spirit of Jesus Christ. At our school, we are extremely blessed to have the support of two wonderful parishes in St. Pius X and St. Leo the Great. Additionally, we are fortunate because we have extremely dedicated and caring faculty and staff members who model God’s love to our children and who help our students to celebrate and deepen their innate, God-given talents. We know that all students are talented and gifted and deserving of a world class education. We also know that this calling to provide an excellent academic and faith-based education is a partnership with our families who are the first and most important teachers in our student’s lives. Furthermore, we are extremely fortunate because we have a robust alumni base that continues to give back in support of the SPSL community.

Thank you again for visiting our website and for your interest in the St. Pius X / St. Leo School community. If you have any questions or would like to set up a visit, we would be honored to hear from you and would be excited to give you a tour. We enjoy sharing the many wonderful things about our diverse school community and share with others how St. Pius X / St. Leo School continues to form students in the Catholic faith, to excel in academics and to serve others.

Peace and blessings – Cory Sepich
