Welcome to Sixth Grade!

I am happy to welcome all of our incoming sixth graders! I know this will be an exciting and memorable year filled with new challenges, discoveries, and opportunities to grow. The sixth-grade teachers have been hard at work preparing for the start of the school year, and we are excited to begin this journey together.

There are many things to look forward to this year! In Social Studies, students will explore fascinating ancient civilizations, including Ancient Egypt and Ancient Rome. Students will use important academic vocabulary and historical thinking skills as they investigate how these civilizations shaped the world.

In Science, students will explore topics such as changes in matter, astronomy, and forces and motion. Through hands-on activities and investigations, students will use academic language while developing their skills in observation, inquiry, problem-solving, and critical thinking.

Some of the exciting highlights of the year will include a VR Tour of Egypt, a Phases of the Moon Lab, and the always-popular Egg Drop Challenge!

I am looking forward to a year filled with learning, curiosity, academic growth, and excitement. Welcome to sixth grade—let’s make it a fantastic year!
