Welcome to the 2024-2025 school year!
Happy 2023! The New Year is a great time for reflecting with gratitude on the first half of the school year, and refreshing our learning and classroom routines! KB is excited for all the fun 2023 has in store! We are so glad to be back as a class after our restful Winter Break. Here are somethings we are enjoying right now: Superkids games, learning about arctic animals, New Year’s resolutions, and Friday morning dance parties!
Literacy – Now that we have met all of our Superkids, we are continuing our learning in Literacy with the Superkids Club! This week we focused on the letter Uu. We also read Share Some Kindness, Bring Some Light by Apryl Stott and discussed what kindness truly looks like.
Religion – Chapter 15 – God Chooses Mary

We have lots to catch up on! Before winter break we celebrated a whole week of Christmas fun with Kindergarten Christmas! Each day had a fun Christmas theme with activities and stories jam packed. We can’t forget about our cookie decorating party, or the surprise visit from the Grinch! Kindergarten also invited all families to watch our Christmas Program performance, what a treat!
December is in full swing! We are celebrating our last couple of weeks together of 2022 with lots of Christmas festivities, including a hot chocolate party, our very own KB ice castle, and the Hot Cocoa dramatic play center!
Literacy – We met our very last Superkid Hot Rod and learned about the letters H. We also have been practicing decoding and segmenting words, practicing our letter sounds, and writing up a storm!
Religion –

Math – In math we have been working on subtraction within 10.
Science/Social Studies – Over the past month we have learned about distinguishing the difference between needs and wants.
November flew by! We are beyond grateful for our KB and SPSL community this month! We have spent time with our fifth grade buddies in 5D, created countless masterpieces, and celebrated our first Mass together!
Literacy – We met Superkids Frits, Ettabetta and learned about the letters F, E. We also have been reading and retelling lots of stories, writing, and are practicing our sight words!
Religion –

Math – In math we have been working on position and location, breaking apart numbers 10 or less, and addition within 10.
Science/Social Studies – Over the past month we have learned about Healthy Foods, Indigenous Peoples’ Month, Thanksgiving, and Magnets.
We have been busy learning all kinds of new things in KB! Not to mention our Halloween party, meetings up with our fifth grade buddies, and our very first Pep Rally!

Literacy – We met Superkids, Alf, Doc, Sal, and Lily and learned about the letters A,D,S, and L. We also have been reading and retelling lots of stories, writing, and are practicing our sight words!
Religion – “God made everyone!” and practicing one decade of the Rosary
Math – We have finished up learning about numbers 1-10 and studies 2D and 3D shapes!
Science/Social Studies – Over the past month we have learned about Maps and Transportation, Countries Around the World, and Bats Spiders.

The past two weeks we have been adding a few extra fun activities to our daily routines like using dry erase markers on our tables to practice identifying letter sounds, using play doh to model numbers 1-10, and practicing our skills with fun games and centers. We have been working hard on solidifying routines and earned a donut party on Friday! We had a day full of donut themed fun!
Literacy – We met our second and third Superkids, Oswald and Golly and learned about the letters O and G. We also practiced letter sounds and are practicing our sight words!
Religion – God gives us water and land!
Math – We have been practicing writing and identifying numbers 1-5.
Science/Social Studies – During our short week last week we learned germs and personal hygiene (covering our coughs, using tissues, washing out hands). This week we learned about community helpers in our school and in our surrounding communities.

No School Friday 9/23!
It was another full week in KB! We started learning new concepts in all subject areas and have been continuing to practice our daily routines. It has been so fun to share our “Me Sack”s with the class and learn more about each other. We also had some fun on Friday with some Skittles sorting and graphing! As you can imagine, that was a big hit! Thank you for the families who joined us for parent night this Thursday! Have a great long weekend!

What an incredible week we had in kindergarten! We have been working each day on our daily routines and learning all about the flow of our classroom. We started the week with picture day and an all-school Positive Behavior Incentive System (PBIS) assembly, and ended the week with a movie and cupcakes for Jordyn’s birthday! I can’t wait to celebrate another full week of learning!
Literacy – We read stories about starting school, being a listener, and kind choices at school. We also practiced writing our names and fine motor skills with some fun beginning of the year projects!
Religion – We have been practicing expectations during prayer and the sign of the cross.
Math – We have review our shapes, practiced sorting, and worked our building muscles with S.T.E.A.M. bins.
Science/Social Studies – We learned about school helpers and helpful behaviors to practice at school.

September 1 – Parent Night in KB (Adults only please)
Hello! My name is Brianna Dufault. This will be my 3rd year teaching Kindergarten at SPSL. I graduated from Creighton University with a degree in Elementary Education with a minor in Dance and emphasis in Theology. Outside of school, I love to cook, read, and spend time with friends and family.
