Math: We practiced writing numbers 1-4 and played in BUILD centers.

Science:  We learned about germs.

PICTURE DAY is Monday the 11th!  Your child can dress up that day.  No jeans or jean shorts, please!  🙂

We had a GREAT full week in KC!  The kids have been learning and practicing routines and have done wonderful!

We had fun learning about our school and classroom rules.  We did some fun projects to go along with our stories, No, David, Lacey Walker Nonstop Talker, The Pigeon Goes To School, and If You Take A Mouse To School.

Next week we will begin our Superkids Literacy program.  The kids LOVE coming in on Mondays and learning who the next Superkid is in the series.

We had the best time this week reading Dr. Seuss books.  We focused a LOT on rhyming words!

Next week is Spring Break!

The week after we will be virtual (NO SCHOOL Monday, March 15th).

Literacy:  We practiced writing Pp and Vv, the sound they make, and using them in words.

Math:  We finished up subtraction.

Science:  We learned about ways to take care of our teeth!

Reminder:  Spring break is March 8th-12th.  We will have a virtual week March 16th-19th.  There is NO SCHOOL on March 15th.

This week was a short one with our snow days, but we still learned a lot and had some fun, too!

Here is what we’ve been working on this week:

Religion: Jesus was once a child.

Literacy: Letter Rr, how to write Rr, the sound it makes, and where it comes in words.

Math: Breaking apart numbers 1-10.

Science:  What are scientists and fun experiments!

This week we talked a lot as a class about the remote learning week the week after Thanksgiving break.  An email was sent today with important information.  There is an envelope with the papers and supplies your child will need for that week.  Please save the work for your child until Nov. 30th.

Change to KC’s Virtual Learning Schedule!

I am excited that we are now planning to meet LIVE every morning from 8:15-9:15 the week of November 30th-December 4th!  The Google Meet link will be posted on Seesaw, along with the lesson plans for the week.  Your QR Code to join Seesaw will be in the envelope coming home today.  Please join by Monday, November 23rd.  It will be fun for the KC kids to continue our morning routine through these live meetings.  I plan to do a combination of calendar time, Superkids, Math, GoNoodles, stories……We’ll have a lot of fun seeing each other! Anything on the lesson plans that we don’t do in our live meetings can be done at a time that works best for your family.  

As I said, you can join each daily meeting by going to Seesaw. Once you’re in Seesaw, look for the Google Meet link in the Activities.  If your child is using an ipad, please install the Google Meet app before our first lesson Monday, November 30th. Once you have your child set up each day on Google Meet and they have their supplies and papers (coming home today) handy, please feel free to continue with your work or daily routine.  There is no need to sit with them during this time.  In fact, it is better for your child to attend class “on their own” the same way they would when they are at school. Of course, if there is a glitch they can come and get you for help.

Literacy:  We met Oswald, our second Superkid, and learned about the letter Oo.  We practiced words that begin with Oo, the sound it makes, and how to write Oo.

Math:  We finished up our chapter on comparing.

Science:  We learned about germs: handwashing, how they spread, how they can make us sick, and how to stay healthy.

The second week in KC was even better than the first! Here is what we’ve been working on this week:

Religion: God created light!

Literacy: The letter Cc!  We met our first Superkid, Cass!  We learned all about Cass, how to write the letter Cc, the sound it makes and words that begin with Cc.

Math: We worked on sorting, same and different.

Social Studies:  It was All About Me week!  We learned a lot about our friends in KC!

Reminder:  There is NO SCHOOL Friday, Sept. 4th and Monday, Sept. 7th!  Happy Labor Day!

Yeah!  We did it!  The KC kids had a great first week of Kindergarten!  We spent a lot of time getting to know the routines and procedures in our classroom.  We will continue to practice these throughout the year.

We had fun reading some beginning of the year books: Mrs. Bindergarten Gets Ready For Kindergarten, David Goes To School, If You Take A Mouse To School, and Lacey Walker Nonstop Talker just to name a few.

Next week we will dive into our Superkids reading program.  The K kids LOVE the Superkids and get excited to find out who the new one is each week.

Now that our school year has officially come to an end, I want to thank the parents for all of their hard work during distance learning.  It wasn’t what we had planned, but we made the best of it for the good of our kiddos!
