A Word from the Principal

We welcome you to the St. Pius X / St. Leo School website and thank you for your interest in our very special Catholic school community!

We are very proud of all that we have to offer our families and in looking through our website, we hope that you can sense the diversity within our school and the entire St. Pius X / St. Leo School community. We are honored to provide a strong, Christ-centered education to our diverse and talented students and to provide them with an educational experience that promotes exemplary academic skills and a sense of service to others.

Here at St. Pius X / St. Leo School, we celebrate our diversity as we believe it represents the diversity of God’s Kingdom. This diversity includes varying intellectual abilities from students who struggle academically to those who are on the gifted spectrum and every level in-between; outstanding talents for the arts and music, sports, literature, writing, math, science, etc.; many racial and ethnic varieties of people; and varying religious affiliations but with the overwhelming majority of our students being Catholic since we are a two-parish Catholic elementary school.

As the principal of St. Pius X / St. Leo School, I know that it is an honor and a very important calling to carry on the strong traditions of a Catholic education as we welcome ALL in the spirit of Jesus Christ. At our school, we are very blessed to have the support of two-parishes. Additionally, we are blessed because we have determined and caring teachers and teacher assistants who model God’s love to our children, and who help our students to learn within their academic abilities. We know that “all students are talented and gifted.” We also know that this calling to provide an excellent academic and faith-based education is a partnership with our families who are the “first and most important teachers” in our student’s lives. Our parents and parishioners grace and surround our school with strength and care. Furthermore, we are extremely fortunate because we have many benefactors who support us financially. Their assistance adds to the tuition help from the parents so that we can effectively manage the business end of our school and continue to live out our Catholic school mission and make it possible for us to help all of our students grow academically and spiritually.

Again, thank you again for visiting our website and for your interest in the St. Pius X / St. Leo school community. If you have any questions or would like to set up a visit, we would be honored to hear from you and give you a tour. We enjoy sharing the many wonderful things about our diverse school and love to celebrate our school’s ability to form students in the Catholic faith, to excel in academics and to serve others.

Peace and blessings,

Cory Sepich, Principal

Daily Announcements

As we know and have all witnessed this month, there have been many conversations surrounding school shootings in our country.  St. Pius X / St. Leo School will be participating in a “Mercy and Peace Building Approach to Gun Violence Prayer Service” at 1:15 pm on Wednesday, March 14th for 6th – 8th grade.  This prayer service will be in front of St. Pius X Church or inside, depending on weather.  Our students will be joining the US Catholic Bishops and Pope Francis in praying for a culture that is not indifferent to violence and instead promotes “love, mercy and peace and provides witness on behalf of a culture of life”.  Additionally, the prayer service, led by Fr. Eckley, will center on the promotion of mercy, peace building, restorative justice and ethical treatment to human life and dignity.  Our students have been told that this is not a “walkout” but a prayer service.  If a student or family does not wish for his/her 6th – 8th grade children to participate in the prayer service on Wednesday, March 14th, this is perfectly understandable and those wishes will be fully respected without any judgment or consequences.  Should a family feel that this event would not be in accord with their beliefs, parents simply need to contact the school or their children’s teachers with their wishes to not attend.  Please know that arrangements have already been made to accommodate those wishes for those students at that time.  At our school we are proud of all of our students and we feel that this allows our students to show faith in action in a reasonable and prayerful way.  As Pope Paul VI said, “if you want peace, work for justice,” and we hope that this prayer service is respectful of all our community members and still aligns with our beliefs as a Catholic institution.
